THE IDEA OF THE CREATIVE RETREAT FOR DOG PHOTOGRAPHERS

The Creative Dog Photographer Retreat is all about coming together to explore creativity, push boundaries, and bring artistic visions to life.

This is not your typical workshop or portfolio day — it’s a unique blend of both. Together, we’ll experiment, exchange ideas, and dive deep into what makes truly magical dog photography.

Over several days in the breathtaking landscapes of Austria, we’ll have 7–8 organized photo sessions with a variety of dogs in some of the country’s most stunning locations — from crystal-clear lakes and cascading waterfalls to enchanting forests and sweeping mountain views. And yes, I’ll even take you to a few of my secret favorite spots.

The retreat is designed to give you the freedom to create and explore — without the pressure of client work. We’ll develop concepts together, refine compositions, and discuss why certain choices make sense for each scene. You’ll have the chance to try out new ideas, experiment with light and perspective, and challenge yourself creatively.

I’ll share my most valuable tips and insights — from how I approach each location to how I use light to create atmosphere and emotion. We’ll review, discuss, and edit our images together, learning from each other’s perspectives in an open, supportive environment.

If you’ve been craving a space to reconnect with your creativity, to shoot just for the love of it, and to be inspired by both nature and like-minded photographers — this retreat is for you.

Your Wishes Are Welcome

We will shape our sessions together. Before the retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to share your personal wishes or photography dreams — for example, a specific dog breed or a certain look you’ve always wanted to photograph. I will do my best to organize suitable dogs so that we can bring those ideas to life during the retreat. This way, the experience becomes truly personal and meaningful for each participant.

LOCATIONS Little treasures in Austrians wilderness

OUR LOCATIONS FOR THE DOG PHOTOGRAPHY RETREAT

Over our days together, we’ll explore the breathtaking and diverse landscapes of Austria, photographing in a wide range of settings that each offer their own unique light and mood. From crystal-clear alpine lakes that glow in the morning sun to mystical forests wrapped in soft mist, from dramatic mountain views to cascading waterfalls — every location tells a different story. Each shoot will bring new creative challenges and opportunities to work with changing light, weather, and atmosphere.
And yes, I’ll even take you to a few of my secret favorite spots — places I’ve discovered over the years that capture the true magic of Austria’s natural beauty.

One of the greatest advantages of this retreat is that you’ll be guided by me who truly knows these locations inside and out. Over the years, I’ve explored and photographed them in every season and light — I know which spots are magical at sunrise or sunset, which are best at certain times of year, and which simply don’t work under specific conditions.

That local knowledge means no wasted time and no guessing — we’ll always be in the right place at the right moment to make the most of the scene. Of course, nature and weather can always surprise us, but experience has taught me how to read and adapt to changing conditions to still create something beautiful.

Accessibility of Locations

All of the locations we’ll visit are reachable without the need for difficult hikes. The paths are well-maintained and mostly flat, so they are comfortable to walk on. However, some spots do require a bit of a walk to reach — nothing extreme, but you should be prepared for short to moderate walks while carrying your gear.

The reward is absolutely worth it: beautiful scenery, peaceful surroundings, and plenty of time to create without rush.
